How we use AI
Re(Clay)m uses AI in a small number of specific, intentional ways. We believe you should know exactly where it appears and why. AI is never used to generate, edit, or suggest content. All writing and images on the archive come from makers. AI was used to create the tools and systems that support the site, but not the content you see here.
Below is a complete list of where AI is used on this platform.
Image moderation
Powered by Claude (Anthropic)
Every image uploaded to Re(Clay)m is automatically reviewed by an AI moderation system before it becomes visible. This helps us maintain a respectful, safe archive without requiring manual review of every submission. If an image is flagged, you will be notified and given the option to upload a different one. No flagged images are stored.
Background removal
Powered by remove.bg
When posting, makers can optionally use a one-click tool to remove the background from their images. This is an opt-in feature and your original image is never altered unless you choose to apply it. The processed image is only what you see in the preview.
Translation
Powered by Claude (Anthropic)
Re(Clay)m is a global archive. Any page on the site can be translated into another language using the language selector in the navigation. Translations are generated on demand by AI and are intended to make the archive more accessible. They are not editorial translations and may not capture every nuance of the original writing.
AI-written posts
Re(Clay)m cannot verify whether a post was written by a person or with the assistance of AI, and we do not attempt to police this. We strongly encourage studio members to write in their own voice. The archive is most alive when it reflects the genuine thinking, struggle, and language of the maker behind the work. That said, we recognise that not everyone writes with the same ease, and that some members may need AI assistance to articulate ideas they could not otherwise share. We welcome all ceramic makers here, regardless of how they get their words down. What matters is that the ideas, the practice, and the work are yours.
We are careful about what AI touches here. This is a space built around the value of human making: the slowness, the failure, the thinking with your hands. AI should serve that, not obscure it.
